The Submariner Memorial Appeal

The Submariner Memorial Appeal, supported by BAE Systems in Barrow, Cumbria has announced that renowned British sculptor Paul Day’s creation will be installed at the National Memorial Arboretum and unveiled at a ceremony attended by HRH Prince William.

Paul Day’s design for the recognition of the Submariner community takes its inspiration from the winning entry of a national competition, which was launched a year ago inside the Devonshire Dock Hall under the recently named Astute submarine Anson. The charity is currently raising £375,000 to fund and maintain the memorial, which will replace the current small plaque. To support this fund please go to their website submarinermemorial.uk.

In order to honour the sacrifice of families who bear the brunt of separation and worry, one side of the conning tower is decorated with a low relief depicting spouses, children and parents waiting for their loved ones to return signifying the very real part they play in keeping submarines working at sea.

USP Maritime is a proud supporter of the Royal Navy and the Submarine fleet, its sailors and support staff in UK industry.
